Beauty At Balgonie

Balgonie Castle was bathed in sunshine as we arrived ahead of the wedding party. They recently achieved the milestone of a thousand weddings, so I wondered how many beautiful brides had enjoyed the privilege before today. I didn't ponder for too long, not least because I knew a truly beautiful one was on her way. I greeted Kevin with a warm handshake before showing my assistant the ceremony room inside. Quite dark isn't it I said with my tongue firmly in cheek. We could barely see each other in the candlelight.
Their guests were arriving in good spirits so we got busy with some shots of groom and best man. Inside, I setup the tripod in anticipation of a planned ceremony shot in the candlelight. Hazel would be up close for a change leaving me free to try some long exposures. With minutes to go I left it all setup and headed over to the entrance. The carved wooden sign on the gate caught my eye as Juliette and her dad arrived. They duly appeared on the dirt track road before pausing to be perfectly framed the entrance.
The procession was tracked through the castle grounds as Juliette and her party headed inside. When the ceremony got underway I remained in the adjacent room with the tripod, occasionally timing an exposure in the atmospheric darkness. Swopping position with Hazel got the flash warmed as the hymns were sung. The happy couple walked back down the aisle before signing the register in front of their guests. Everyone then headed outside leaving us to get a shot in the ceremony room with the couple and all those candles. They happily kissed for the camera, only this time it was as husband and wife...
